Weight Management Does Not Mean Less Of Everything
“Less is more” is a practical mantra to follow in fashion. However, it is not so cut and dried when it comes to weight management. Less exercise will definitely not do you any good in weight management. Ditto with less carbohydrates. Less and less fats is also not good. Lest you want to freeze your weight at an unhealthy level…
The adage “Everything in moderation” seems to be more apt when it comes to weight management. After all, balance is key to successfully keeping excess weight problems at bay. Weight management, after all, is not about losing the extra pounds after two weeks of eating nothing but cabbage soup, or hitting the gym 16 hours a day for a whole month. Weight management is a lifelong commitment.
Exercising till you are ready to drop dead will actually lead to injury… ergo, moderate exercising is more practical in weight management. And by moderate, it means just enough cycles of a particular routine to spur your metabolism. Moderation in exercise means taking advantage of the energy burst brought about by physical exertion so you can enjoy the other aspects of your life.
A moderate consumption of fats is also beneficial to weight management, versus zero-fat intake. Severely limiting fat intake will actually make you perennially hungry, as fat helps generate the feeling of being satiated. How much fun can you have out of life if you are forever hungry? Keeping fat intake to normal portions will actually help you in your quest for weight management as you will become a more practical eater – saying enough when you feel full.
Weight management is also not synonymous with saying goodbye to eating out. On the contrary, you can still enjoy a meal or two every so often in your favorite restaurant. It all boils down to making the right food choices. Eating out also should not mean an overdose of fast food fare. Moderate burger and fries enjoyment is not going to throw all your weight management efforts down the drain. But having a burger and fries bonanza three times a day for most of the week will probably cost you all your hard work at the gym.
In all, weight management works if you remember to do everything in moderation.
